Resolution of SEV Hellenic Federation of Enterprises General Council, February 13, 2012

14 February 2012

SEV General Council, which convened on February 13, 2012 at SEV premises, having assessed the new developments taking shape in the current critical state of affairs, adopted the following resolution:

“Modern organized enterprises, members of SEV, are shouldering the burden of today and the hope of tomorrow.

The burden of today, because:

  • through the added value they create, they cover over 2/3 of total tax revenues,
  • through the jobs they provide, they cover over 50% of those employed in the private sector and contribute over 55% of IKA (social security) revenues.
The hope of tomorrow, because:
  • these enterprises are the sole healthy foundation for restarting the economy, as soon as the right conditions are created,
  • it is through these enterprises and their people that new initiatives and investments will create the country’s new growth prospects.

SEV’s modern enterprises support their employees because they depend on them.

  • They take care of their employees’ income and make it a priority to safeguard jobs, giving precedence to other means of improving productivity and reducing costs.
  • They are striving to adapt to current conditions and survive the crisis, in consultation with employees and within the framework of  the law, without any “red lines” other than those imposed by reality itself.

There can be no modern Greece without modern enterprises.

The signing of the new loan agreement opens up a window of opportunity, so that we do not miss our European prospects. But the future is not ensured through loans. Growth is the only antidote to the crisis. And growth will come only through our own efforts,  our own decisions, our own actions. It is now or never for the major, decisive changes in our economy and our society.

SEV is working and striving for this, looking forward to the awakening of the powers of Greece’s creative citizens; citizens who, until today, have suffocated in a state working for the clientele of political parties.”
